Aligning Cultures is a Washington DC-based nonprofit connecting conflict-affected communities in the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond with the resources, expertise, and partnerships they need to build resilience.
We serve as a bridge between international donors and local implementers - bringing 20+ years of field experience to program design, capacity building, and community engagement across Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and the broader MENA region.
Our nine service areas span the full spectrum of peacebuilding and development work - from community-based conflict prevention and CVE rehabilitation, to strategic communications and counter-disinformation, to organizational capacity building and fiscal sponsorship for local civil society organizations.

Locally led crisis committees, IDP reintegration, and social cohesion programming that interrupt cycles of violence in Iraq, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

We work through and with local civil society organizations. Every program we design strengthens local partners rather than substituting for them.
Every Aligning Cultures program is grounded in rigorous community research, ensuring interventions address real community needs and dynamics.
All of our programming applies trauma-informed, do-no-harm principles so engagements are safe, respectful, and oriented toward community healing.
